Start times: The Visitors Center is open April - October from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; November-March from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Visitors Center is closed Thanksgiving.

Event description: The walk route is mostly on city sidewalks passing Woodrow Wilson Library his birthplace, through Mary Baldwin College campus, Gypsy Hill Park and Thornrose Cemetery. The trail is suitable for strollers; wheelchairs may have difficulty.

Award and fees: The award is a 100% embroidered patch as pictured above ($7.00). Credit only is $3.00. Wilderness Road -- Virginia's Heritage Migration Route. Blaze your own trail at WildernessRoadVA.org

Directions: From I-81 in Virginia, take Exit 222 onto US 250 West toward Staunton. Travel approximately 2.7 miles. The Visitor Center is located on the corner of Greenville and New Street. There is a parking garage [fee] on the right before New Street. Parking is also available on the street.

Comments: Walk only during daylight hours.

Water and restrooms are available at the Visitor Center and Jackson Memorial Hall.

Several restaurants and shops are available along the trail.

Pets are not allowed inside the Visitor Center. Pets must be leashed at all times.
